A senior consultant for International Crisis Group anti-Zimbabwe crusader Pious Pigou who has been accused of sponsoring pro-opposition media practitioners who seek to destabilize the Southern Africa country, now stands accused of bullying and threatening former Information deputy minister in the late President Robert Mugabe administration, Bright Matonga.
This comes after the two recently appeared on a televised weekly magazine programme, Inside Story which appeared on Aljazeera.
The live debate programme which focused on the challenges currently obtaining in Zimbabwe, also featured other panelists such as Obert Gutu also a former deputy Minister of Justice and Legal Affairs in the 2009 inclusive government.
During the debate, the former Mhondoro legislator Matonga had argued that it has been a trend by third forces, a term often used to describe sections with an ulterior agenda to effect regime in Zimbabwe.
Matonga had accused Pigou of sponsoring anti-government proponents to denigrate the Zanu PF administration with a clear mandate of effecting an illegal regime change agenda.
“It is a pattern and an indication that there are people who have not stopped in sponsoring to destabilize Zimbabwe…and people want to paint this government as oppressive and that nothing has changed post Robert Mugabe’s time.”
This did not go down well with Pigou, who after the show went on a verbal tirade directed against Matonga whom he threatened to deal with physically.
In the threatening microblogging twitter messages send to Matonga, Pigou warned the former that “he will face it…and won’t even know it’s coming”.
“Your leadership (Zanu PF) like you, is a f…g joke”, continued the verbal assault on Matonga.
“I have free legal assistance and I will destroy you and your reputation…whats left of it”.
“I have a very long memory and I will hound you…this is my promise to you freak,” read some of the threatening tweets which were send to Matonga’s twitter direct messaging.
In his response Matonga said he was not moved by the threats as these were some of the daily challenges he faces from people with an un clear agenda on Zimbabwe who can not stomach the realities of the new dispensation and its freedoms which they abuse in many ways.
