The protracted rally on the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange (ZSE) was halted today, with a number of heavyweights weighing heavy.
The bourse’s main index – the All Share index – ended its 20 day winning streak with a 9.72 points (or 0.64%) loss to close at 1,505.03 points.
Cigarette manufacturer BAT Zimbabwe retreated by $3.0000 to $143.000, while conglomerate Innscor Limited eased $2.2839 to close at
$25.9679 and beverages giant Delta Corporation was $0.8688 lower at $25.0056.
Also trading in the red was Cassava Smartech, which decreased by $0.4276 to end at $9.5099 and crocodile skin producer Padenga Holdings traded $0.1932 weaker at $13.1360.
Offsetting the losses was Seed-Co International, which gained $4.1000 to $24.7000, and its local counterpart Seed-Co, which added $1.7814 to $19.5314 and Hippo Valley Estates, which was $1.1682 stronger at $13.3182.
Cement producer PPC Zimbabwe also increased by $0.9670 to $5.9755 and Meikles was $0.3684 higher at $13.8684.
Activity was high with 299 trades on the bourse today as turnover clocked $241.1 million.
The stock exchange’s total market capitalization closed at $194.5 billion.
