Government, through the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development, has announced the appointment of Mrs Grace Muradzikwa as the substantive Commissioner of the Insurance and Pensions Commission with immediate effect.
She takes over from Mr Blessmore Kazengura (substantive Director of Finance), who has been the acting Commissioner.
Mrs Muradzikwa is the former managing director of NicozDiamond Insurance Ltd.
Finance and Economic Development permanent secretary, Mr George Guvamatanga introduced Mrs Muradzikwa to the IPEC management team and staff this afternoon.
IPEC falls under the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development.
“I am very pleased to introduce to you the new head of the Commission, Mrs Grace Muradzikwa, who will take over from Mr Kazengura with immediate effect,” said Mr Guvamatanga.
The Secretary for Finance paid tribute to Mr Kazengura for steering the ship in an acting capacity following the resignation of Mr Tendai Karonga.
In her remarks, Mrs Muradzikwa said:
“For me, it’s just to advise the team that I am definitely looking forward to getting to know all of you better and of course working with you. As you are aware, I am quite familiar with the industry but regulation and supervision will be a learning process for me, so I am hoping that we can walk the journey together and you can also show me the ropes. So I have a lot to learn from you and I look forward to that.”
Finance and Economic Development Minister, Professor Mthuli Ncube has also appointed the board for IPEC.
The IPEC board will be led by Mr Albert Nduna as chair.
Other members are David Mureriwa, Annah Mashingaidze, Godwin Nyengedza and Judith Rusike.
