July is the month dedicated to fibroids awareness month after realisation that it was affecting a lot of women who are suffering in silence.

Musician Hope Masike who went public in the past few months about her health condition yesterday went a step further, launching the ‘Tose Fibroids’ campaign in an attempt to create awarness around the matter.

“I have fibroids and l went public a couple of months ago. I invited different women to share their experiences, creating a social and psychological support system for me and the other women.

“From the responses I was getting I realised there were a lot of affected women and even younger girls, which indicated need for information so that husbands and family know what fibroids are and know how to offer support,” said Masike.

The campaign, which was launched yesterday online, became the first of its kind supported by a number of specialist doctors and musicians.

“Tese means we are all involved and its key to note that the womb of a woman is key if it’s infected we are all affected,” she added.
