Zimbabwe does not have a constitutional crisis, Justice Legal and Parlimaentary Affairs secretary Mrs Viginia Mabhiza has said.
She was addressing the media on the sidelines of the swearing-in ceremony of the five constitutional court judges Justices Paddington Garwe, Rita Makarau, Anne-Mary Goora, Ben Hlatshwayo and Bharat Patel who took oath before Acting Chief Justice Elizabeth Gwaunza.
Mabhiza underlined that in light of the case of re-appointment of former Chief Justice Luke Malaba by President Emmerson Mnangagwa last week, the nation still has a vibrant and balanced judicial system and she sees no crisis as courts are still functioning and carrying out their duties.
“What we are seeing is not a constitutional crisis, parties brought their matters before the court and it is now entirely up to the court to make the decision.
“There is no constitutional crisis at all, as you can see the courts are functioning and today we have witnessed a very important ceremony in the judicial service sector.”
