The Pokugara team, including controversial Ukrainian-based businessman Ken Sharpe who is currently out of the country, Mike Van Blerk, Mandla Ndebele, and the City of Harare officials namely suspended City clerk Hosiah Chisango, and Engineer Zvenika Chawatama who did not pitch up at court, Samuel Nyabezi and Lasten Taonezvi, were this week on Tuesday, 30 March 2021 all placed on remand to 26 April 2021 for trial by magistrate Stanford Mambanje.
The court also issued a warrant of arrest for Eng Chawatama who did not show up on Tuesday.
Pokugara and Harare officials were dragged to Court for wilfully destructing land developer Georgios Katsimberis’ show house.
According to court papers, sometime between July 2018 and October 2018, in Borrowdale, Michael Van Blerk, Mandla Marlone Ndebele, Hosiah Chisango, Isiah Zvenyika Chawatama, Samuel Nyabezi, Lasten Taonezvi and Ken Sharpe wantonly destroyed a show house constructed by Katsimberis. Ken Sharpe is reportedly still at large.
“In that on the date to the prosecutor unknown but during the period extending from July 2018 to October 2018 at Plot 9 of 21 on consolidated number 19559 of 19828 Harare Township Corner Teviotdale and Whitwell road, Borrowdale, Michael Van Blerk, Mandla Marlone Ndebele, City of Harare represented by suspended Town clerk Hosiah Chisango, Isiah Zvenyika Chawatama, Samuel Nyabezi, Lasten Taonezvi and Ken Sharpe, who is still at large, one or more of them, knowing that Georgios Katsimberis is entitled to own, possess or control any property or realizing that there was a real risk or possibility that another person may be so entitled, damaged or destroyed the property intending to cause such damage or destruction,” reads the summons.
Also, in the case criminal abuse of office haunts Chisango, Chawatama, Nyabezi and Tao after they falsely claimed that there were no approved plans.
Katsimberis still insist that he holds evidence that proves otherwise.
Van Blerk, Ndebele and Sharpe are also in trouble for failing or refusing to disclose that the stand in question was built with approved plans and for failing to caution Katsimberis of the demolition before undertaking such a drastic measure.
Suspended Harare City Clerk Engineer Josiah Abraham Chisango, Chawatama, Nyabezi and Taonezvi face criminal abuse of office charges for falsely claiming that there were no approved plans.
Katsimberis maintains that he holds evidence that proves otherwise.
Controversial businessman Ken Sharpe is still at large and believed to be in Ukraine.
Van Blerk, Ndebele and Sharpe are also in trouble for failing or refusing to disclose that the stand in question was built with approved plans and for failing to caution Katsimberis of the demolition before undertaking such a drastic measure.
