Zimbabwe’s inflation continues to show a downward trajectory, shifting to 240.55% in March from 321.59% in February, although prices of basic goods and services have been rising since the beginning of 2021.

The country’s statistics body – the Zimbabwe National Statistical Agency (ZimStats) said year on year inflation rate (annual percentage change) for the month of March 2021 as measured by the all items Consumer Price Index (CPI) stood at 240.55% from 321.59% in February 2021.

The blended inflation (Zimbabwe dollar and US dollar calculated inflation) also slowed to 122.33%.

“The year on year inflation rate (annual percentage change) for the month of March 2021 as measured by the all items blended Consumer Price Index (CPI) stood at 122.33% from 162.95% in February 2021,” said ZimStat.

Official inflation stood at 2.26% in March 2021 shedding 1.19 percentage points on the February 2021 rate of 3.45%, reported ZimStat.

The month on month inflation rate in March 2021 was 1.09% gaining 0.38 percentage points on the February 2021 rate of 0.71%.
