Local bourse, Zimbabwe Stock Exchange (Pvt) Limited says it has raised ZWL$144, 234.10 that will go towards the coronavirus (Covid-19) fight.

The funds will be disbursed to the Ministry of Health and Child Care, which is at the forefront of efforts to curb the spread of the health pandemic.

Said ZSE chief executive Justin Bgoni:

“The Zimbabwe Stock Exchange Limited joined the nation in raising funds towards the fight against the spread of Covid-19 virus through a commitment to donate the ZSE levies collected from trades executed from the 24th to the 30th of April 2020.

“The ZSE wishes to advise stakeholders that the amount collected totalled ZWL$144,234.10. Morgan & Company, a ZSE registered stockbroking firm, who pledged to support the ZSE initiative by donating brokerage raised on 5 May 2020, raised ZWL$35,140.75.

“The total amount raised, and an additional amount from ZSE will be used to procure 100 infrared thermometers to be donated to the Ministry of Health and Child Care. Infrared thermometers have been identified as essential and all capital market intermediaries for the support during the fund raising period.”

Numerous Zimbabwean business entities have contributed to the country’s fight against Covid-19 over the past few weeks.
